Cancun Real Estate
New Condo Development in Puerto Cancun

By Thomas Lloyd

Within the Mexico Real Estate market, Cancun currently represents some of the best growth opportunities. One example of this is that in early in February, Maioris Group International, together with the government of Quintana Roo (the state which includes Cancun, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen) officially held the grand opening of the Maioris Tower, a residential Mexico Condo complex located in the exclusive development of Puerto Cancun.

Part of the reason this real estate project has is now complete is the confidence which the investors had in the Cancun Real Estate market, deciding to move ahead with construction despite the global recession, which reached its low point in 2009. This confidence has been answered with success, and allows real estate buyers to buy in Cancun with similar confidence that their property will be an excellent investment for both lifestyle and for future re-sale.

Cancun and the state of Quintana Roo currently shows a strong level of support from committed investors and, in terms of real estate, Cancun will fair better than other cities in the Caribbean, not to mention many U.S. real estate destinations.

At the grand opening, the president of Maioris Group International, reiterated his commitment to Cancun, as evidenced by the fact that in a relatively short time the group has been successful in completing this project, which is one of the first developments completed in Puerto Cancun.

Cancun was chosen for the Maioris Tower development it is an “established tourist destination with a unique strategic location and meeting point between the Caribbean and many other parts of the world.” As much as this is true for the Maioris Group, the current focus of Cancun, adding a large set of new flights and destinations from its international airport, and constructing new venues for international business conferences, is moving even further in this direction, providing new real estate opportunities as an international business and travel hub.

Cancun is setting its sights on becoming the most important connection and travel point in the Caribbean, including Miami, providing links between South America, North America, Europe and many other destinations in the world.

The completion of the Maioris Tower condo development in Puerto Cancun represents continuing property opportunities, ongoing confidence for buyers, and another part of the many steps the city is taking towards becoming a key international center for business and real estate, in addition to tourism.

Playa del Carmen Real Estate
Entertainment in International Film Festival

By Thomas Lloyd

Buyers searching Mexico MLS listings will find a very wide range of excellent properties available, and Playa del Carmen MLS among the forefront of the choices within Mexico. Over the past decade, this town has build a strong and real-to-life reputation for top quality real estate with excellent location. An important part of this is that Playa del Carmen Real Estate offers much more than just excellent properties; buyers here will find a lifestyle to match the world-famous beaches, with high quality restaurants, international shopping and many events and activities. One example of this aspect of Playa del Carmen is its growing film culture.

For real estate buyers who love going to the movies, Playa del Carmen has two new, very modern, large screen movie theaters, which play the latest box office hits in English. However, one aspect which MLS listings might not mention is that Playa del Carmen is also host to two international film festivals each year, for those who like to try out an international film now and then.

The Cancun and Riviera Maya Film Festival is takes place every November, and is shared with Cancun and Mexico City. It is the only film festival with an official competition and a permanent exhibition of movies about “Ecology and Human Development.” While this appeals especially to those who are concerned with pollution and related topics, there are many other categories and film types included. The festival has currently been in existence for three years. During the four day festival cultural and environmental activities also take place. In 2009 Japan was the guest country and had the honor of movies by the filmmaker Takeshi Kitano. By June, the 2010 program will be ready, which will include “Experimental Mexico Cancun Lounge.”

Another film festival is the “Underground Film Festival,” which will hold its fifth annual celebration in October, with four days of festival. At this festival, different cinematic styles are welcomed and encouraged, with competitions in the categories of Animation, Experimental, Documentary, Fiction or Silent Movies, which each bring together hundreds of filmmakers.

Besides the exhibition of short films during the festival, there are film workshops, samples of films, lectures and musical recitals, as was the case last year, the recital of Alex Otaola soundtrack to the silent film “Man With The Movie Camera” by director Dziga Vertov. All programming will be presented in August. The projections are organized in Playa del Carmen and at night there are jazz, rock concerts.

These film festivals are only one example of the many activities and events which take place in Playa del Carmen, which range from fishing tournaments to golf tournaments, to traditional Mexican holiday celebrations. For buyers searching MLS listings in Mexico, Playa del Carmen will definitely offer an excellent lifestyle to match the high-quality properties they find.
